It took Republicans a month to get to the October 26 vote, which usually takes more than 70 days.

Senators debated and presented their arguments every weekend.

Democrats have been opposed from the start to the

appointment of Justice

Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court ahead of the presidential election.

Republicans want to push through to secure one more conservative judge in the country's highest court.

With the magistrate, the conservatives will number six against three progressive judges.

A formality

Sunday, October 25, a first procedural vote allowed Republicans to show that they had the necessary votes to validate the nomination, despite the defection of two of theirs.

Senators Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins voted against, along with the Democrats.

That said, despite her opposition to proceeding, Lisa Murkowski announced that she would support Judge Barrett's confirmation.

This Monday therefore, it should only be a formality, despite the many attempts by the Democrats to delay the vote as much as possible.

A victory for the leader of the Republican majority in the Senate Mitch McConnell who had promised

Donald Trump

confirmation before the presidential election.

It is the first time that the appointment of a judge to the Supreme Court has taken place one week before the election.
