The no-confidence motion has been pursued by the Moderates, the Sweden Democrats and the Christian Democrats due to Peter Hultqvist's handling of the IT scandal at the Swedish Transport Agency this summer.

At first, all bourgeois parties and SD demanded that Peter Hultqvist resign, but since then the Center Party and the Liberals have backed the demand.

In order for the no-confidence motion against Hultqvist to be approved, more than half of the members of the Riksdag needed to vote in favor, which corresponds to 175 votes.

The chairman of the Defense Committee, Allan Widman, broke with the Liberals' party line and voted in favor of a motion of censure against Hultqvist.
