Ninety-year-old veteran lost the commemorative medal to resist U.S. Aid Korea

Various searches failed. Beijing Veterans Affairs Bureau presented him with a brand new commemorative medal

"I just got the commemorative medal for the War to Resist U.S. Aid and Aid Korea a few days ago. I went to the Summer Palace and found it out after a while." Recently, a netizen sent a message for help for a middle-aged old man in his family.

What makes people worry is that as of yesterday afternoon, the medal has not been recovered.

Surprisingly, at 10 o'clock last night, the staff of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Veterans Affairs sent a brand new medal to the home of the elderly relatives in Beijing.

The relatives of the elderly were grateful for this, and they also said that they would not give up the search for the lost medal.

On October 24, a netizen asked for help on Weibo, saying that her 92-year-old grandfather was a wounded soldier in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, but the commemorative medal she received just a few days ago was lost accidentally.

"I visited the Summer Palace in Beijing on the 24th. The medallion was not on the clothes. I found it lost after walking around for a while. I didn’t find it when I looked back. I hope that friends in Beijing, especially those who are playing in the Summer Palace, can help. Please hand it over to the Park Management Office. Because this chapter is very important to Grandpa!" According to the netizen, the lost time was probably between 2:40 pm and 2:50 pm on October 24, and the police had already been reported.

A reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily contacted Ms. Liu, the elderly daughter’s daughter who lives in Beijing. She said that her parents, sister and other family members came to Beijing from Harbin. “I plan to go to Shenzhen for the winter. I will get off the bus halfway and spend two days in Beijing. The ticket to Shenzhen on the day did not expect such a thing to happen. Now the old man is also very anxious to get angry."

She described that the two elderly people at the bridge head of Changqiao also looked at the medallions, and waited for her sister to walk forward after she came out of the bathroom. Because she was a little tired when walking on an uphill road, "I planned to stop and find something. The place took a rest. My sister turned around and found that the medal was missing. The two of us hurried back to look for it, but we couldn't find it."

Because they kept walking back to the ticket gate but did not find it, and then asked the staff for help, the park party promptly contacted the security staff of the work group to look for it.

After that, Ms. Liu and her family went to the police station in the park to obtain surveillance video.

Ms. Liu said that through surveillance, it can be seen that at 2:33 pm, her parents, sister and others entered the garden from Beigong Gate with the medallion still there. “It was pinned to the chest at the time, and now only the upper half is left. Part of silk fabric."

They also tried a variety of ways to find.

After dark that day, Ms. Liu’s sister and brother-in-law continued to search the park through the flashlight on their mobile phone. “Even under the rain grate that drained sewage was not let go.” Until the morning of the 25th, Ms. Liu who had just come out of the police station again Went to find nearby.

The staff of the Summer Palace stated that the loss of items is usually handled by tourists and the police station in the park. “If our staff sees it, they will definitely return it in time.” A reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily found that the Summer Palace was at its official site on the afternoon of the 25th. A notice of missing objects was posted for the elderly on Weibo.

Unexpectedly, the turning point of the matter occurred last night. It turned out that after the news that the old man lost the medal was spread by the media, the staff of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Veterans Affairs learned of the incident.

Considering that the day is the Double Ninth Festival, in order to let the elderly spend the festival steadily, they contacted the elderly's daughter in Beijing as soon as possible and gave a new commemorative medal to the elderly at 10 o'clock that night.

"My father was very happy after receiving the new medal. I didn't expect the comrades of the Beijing Veterans Affairs Bureau to be so enthusiastic." Ms. Liu said that she would continue to look for the lost medal and return the new medal when that time comes.

If it is really not found, the medal collection just obtained will be used as a permanent souvenir.
