Dubai Roads updates the artificial intelligence strategy with 140 projects for a period of 5 years

The Roads and Transport Authority confirmed that it has completed the study and evaluation of the current status of its strategy in the field of artificial intelligence, to begin the phase of updating this strategy according to developments and global benchmarks and within the framework of the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which resulted in the inventory of more than 140 projects to enhance technical performance in all operational and service operations Administrative and employee productivity efficiency.

In detail, Mohamed Al-Mazrab, Executive Director of the Institutional Technical Support Services Sector at the Authority, said: The evaluation came in response to the requirements of the next stage in the field of digital transformation, the fourth industrial revolution, and expanding the horizons of artificial intelligence in the authority, and that the evaluation included three axes: The first is the strategy The Artificial Intelligence Roadmap is currently being followed in the Authority’s work, the second is regulation and governance, and it is concerned with assessing the extent to which institutions and sectors adhere to artificial intelligence policies and ethics based on smart Dubai standards, and the third includes infrastructure, including data readiness, technical tools and operational systems.

He added: The results of the evaluation showed that 32 projects related to the use of artificial intelligence techniques were implemented, in addition to 31 projects under implementation, and that these projects focused on several areas of focus, which are the automation of processes and administrative activities, traffic management and smart roads, improving the personal experience of the customer, safety and security. Crisis management, capacity building and knowledge management, and improving employee experience and productivity.

Regarding the future vision, Al-Mazrab clarified that a comprehensive road map has been drawn up to implement artificial intelligence projects for the next five years, and these projects were counted through holding 51 workshops with all sectors and institutions departments, which resulted in the inventory of more than 140 projects and cases of use of artificial intelligence technologies in data analysis and automation. Operations, decisions, and services enhancement, indicating that these projects have kept pace with the requirements of the technical future by making several standard comparisons with five global cities, namely London, Sydney, New York, Seoul and Singapore, especially with a clear approach between the performance of the authority and these cities at the level of operational rate .

He emphasized that the comprehensive strategic plan that was developed and approved is fully compatible with the local, federal and global vision under the framework of the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 initiative, and that the aim of this plan is to achieve financial savings through reducing expenditures, improving institutional performance, developing services, and increasing efficiency. As well as embodying the vision of our rational government in its "smart city" initiative.
