Polish star Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick, which led Bayern Munich to a 5-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday in the fifth stage of the German football league (Bundesliga).

Leipzig maintained its position in the lead after defeating Hertha Berlin 2-1, as Borussia Moenchengladbach beat its host Mainz 3-2, while Union Berlin drew 1-1 with Freiburg.

The Bavarian team, crowned with three league, cup and Champions League trips last season, raised its tally to 12 points, but remained in second place, one point behind Leipzig, while Eintracht Frankfurt stuck at 8 points.

Bayern Lewandowski's quintet (10, 26 and 61), Leroy Sani (73) and Jamal Musyala (90) were scored.

Lewandowski strengthened his position at the top of the Bundesliga scoring charts, increasing his score to 10 goals.
