Tags were discovered on the facade of a school in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon.

They threaten an elected city ecologist with beheading.

The mayor of Lyon announced that an investigation had been opened to find the authors of these graffiti. 

Tags threatening an elected official with decapitation were discovered on Saturday at a school in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon, report local media such as

Le Progrès

which disseminate the photos.

"The mayor of the 8th we will behead your head" (sic), it is notably written, targeting the ecologist councilor Olivier Berzane.

Another graffiti threatens to "behead teachers and students".

The mayor of Bron already threatened

In a tweet, the mayor of Lyon Grégory Doucet condemned "firmly these tags of unspeakable violence" and brought his "unconditional support" to the elected.

"An investigation is underway. The Republic is indivisible, those who stir up hatred will never win", he added, while the regional prefecture recalled that "those who attack [representatives of the 'State] attack the Republic and will systematically find the State and justice in their path ".

I strongly condemn these tags of unspeakable violence on an 8th grade school this time.

My unconditional support for Olivier Berzane and all those concerned.
