As in many other cities and departments, the curfew came into effect on Saturday in Nancy.

However, the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle is not on maximum alert.

The mayor of Nancy, Mathieu Klein, was the guest of Europe 1, Saturday morning.

INTERVIEW

The extension of the curfew, announced by the Prime Minister Thursday for Meurthe-et-Moselle (and 37 other departments), came into force on Saturday at midnight.

In Nancy, the bars have closed, as has the autumn fair.

As in many other departments, Meurthois will now have to stay at home between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

While this eastern department is not on full alert, some residents denounce the injustice of these measures.

"General measures are always unfair," replied the mayor of Nancy, Mathieu Klein, guest of Europe 1, on Saturday.

“You are addressing both those who have made real efforts, and those who have not played the game,” he continues.

However, the councilor insists on the need to redouble efforts so as not to have to take the next step: a re-containment.

"The situation is serious"

"In the East, we are lucid people", continues Mathieu Klein, also president of the metropolis of Nancy.

"We know that the curve of the epidemic does not stop its vertiginous progression. Of course we are going straight towards a partial, local reconfinement", he continues.

"This is the worst situation, everyone must realize, in terms of health, education, economics, culture, that the situation is serious."
