Sudan is preparing to normalize relations with Israel, making it the third Arab country to do so, less than two weeks before the day of the US elections.

Donald Trump announced it.

The move, which would make Sudan's engagement with the West more poignant, follows the agreement announced by Trump this week to remove the North African country from the list of sponsors of terrorism if it pays compensation to American victims of terrorist attacks.

Furthermore, the Sudan-Israel deal brings about a new foreign policy outcome for Trump, just days before the elections, and strengthens his ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Recently, the United States negotiated diplomatic pacts between Israel and the UAE and Bahrain.

Jordan recognized Israel in the 1990s.

Indeed, Netanyahu made it a priority to forge ties with formerly hostile countries in Africa and the Arab world, in the absence of progress with the Palestinian side during his more than ten years in office.

The deal also aims to unite Arab countries against their common adversary, Iran.
