On the shopping street Köpmansgatan in Halmstad, several business premises are empty.

Some with notes on the windows that the store has closed or that the premises are rented out.

A former toy store has signs left on the facade, but a temporary art exhibition is held in the room instead. 

- This is not how we want it to be on our parade street, says Caroline Bengtsson from Halmstad City, the organization that brings together entrepreneurs in the center.

Diving turnover

The fact that stores in the central city centers closed down occurred even before the Corona pandemic, but during the first half of 2020, HUI's forecast shows that sales in Falkenberg, Varberg and Halmstad's city centers decreased by up to 20 percent. 

Kungsbacka is also included in the study, but the figures have not yet been published.
