"We continue to have a worrying situation in Kronoberg, with significant spread of infection in some municipalities," the Kronoberg region writes in a press release.
The municipalities in question are Älmhult and Ljungby, where there is a marked increase in the proportion of positive test results in the past week.
- In these municipalities, we want the inhabitants to be extra careful.
Work at home if possible, avoid gatherings in your free time such as after work or private parties, keep your distance and most important of all - stay at home if you are ill, says Christian Blomkvist, infection control doctor.
Dissemination in hospitals
On Monday, October 19, the region had the highest number of covid-19-positive individuals since sampling began for the general public.
More than 70 people who were tested that day were positive.
- In addition to local accumulations of cases, the main explanation for the sharp increase is that we have seen signs of the spread of infection in hospitals.
There is also a spread in care in some municipalities, says Christian Blomkvist, infection control doctor.
At present, 16 covid-19 patients are hospitalized, two of whom receive intensive care.
