08 February 2019 Gianni Alemanno must be sentenced to 5 years in prison (4 and a half years for corruption plus another 6 months for illegal financing) because he was "the leading politician of the Mafia Capitale organization due to his top role as mayor , in the period 29 April 2008 - 12 June 2013 "and also because subsequently, once he became a minority municipal councilor in the PDL, he remained" the reference point "of the 'ras' of the Salvatore Buzzi cooperatives.

It is the punishment solicited by the prosecutor Luca Tescaroli, deputy prosecutor in Florence for a few months, in the process of extracting the Mafia Capital.

Alemanno, according to the representative of the public prosecution, is not even deserving of the granting of generic extenuating circumstances if we consider "the modalities of his conduct (which denote a proclivity to commit a crime being characterized by the use by the accused of trustees and his Foundation Nuova Italia to disguise one's responsibilities), the duration over time of the illegal action, which lasted for several years (at least from 2012 to 2014), the criminal unscrupulousness demonstrated, the criminal record and the return to crime despite having benefited from rehabilitation reward institute ".

The prosecutor also asked the judges of the second criminal section of the court of Rome to confiscate the sum of 223500 euros, the equivalent of the price of corruption.

Alemanno, highlighted Tescaroli, "placed at the top of the corruption mechanism", exercised "his powers and functions illegally and took care of the collection of related undue benefits, mainly through his own trustees to shield his person".

These are subjects who have been convicted (or even just under investigation such as the former CEO of Eur spa Riccardo Mancini or Antonio Lucarelli, head of the cabinet of the then mayor's secretariat) for Mafia Capitale for "interfacing with the representatives of the organization , from Buzzi to Massimo Carminati ".

The reference goes, for example, to Franco Panzironi, former CEO of Ama, to the former majority director of the PDL Luca Gramazio and to the manager Fabrizio Franco Testa.
