"The forecast of the situation with the spread of infectious diseases and, in a broader sense, biological threats shows that with a high degree of probability in the medium term one can expect some new challenges, no infections caused by new pathogens, an increase in the number of cases of known infectious diseases," Minister of TASS.

“It is impossible to prepare for something that has never happened before, but it is necessary to have a flexible, controlled system of response to the entire range of threats, which ultimately make up any new challenge,” Murashko stressed.

Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said about the need to create a system of rapid protection against new infectious threats.

In mid-October, Russian leader Vladimir Putin ordered the creation of a Russian Security Council commission on protection against new infections.
