Against the grain of a restaurant sector hit by the health crisis, fast food chains manage to pull out of the game. After the Domino's Pizza chain in September, it is up to KFC to announce new creations of posts in Europe.

The American fried chicken giant is recruiting and letting it be known: 5,400 jobs are expected to be created by the end of the year in KFC restaurants in the UK and Ireland.

The management wishes in particular to take advantage of the hiring assistance program for young people aged 16 to 24 set up by the British government during the pandemic.

Like KFC, fast food chains are doing well.

But for traditional restaurants, the year is still very complicated, and it shows as far as the shopping streets of Manchester or Dublin.

New restrictions, and even re-restrictions as in Ireland or Wales, make the outlook for the sector even more uncertain.

Most of the pubs, hit hard by the crisis, have announced job cuts.

Restaurant chains, like Pizza Express or sandwich shops like Pret A Manger, have no choice but to downsize.

The industry could lose up to half a million jobs.
