October 23, 2020 Ryanair, Easyjet, Vueling and Blue Panorama now also offer ticket refunds in the event of flight cancellations.

Consumers choose between a refund or a voucher.

This is what the Antitrust Authority informs that it has decided not to adopt any precautionary measures at the conclusion of four sub-proceedings against the companies.

These had been started at the end of September to suspend the sale of tickets for flights that were later canceled unilaterally, motivated by Covid, offering consumers only vouchers in exchange.

The cancellation, recalls the antitrust, "was motivated by the spread of the contagion from covid-19, although the services referred to a period and destinations without the circulation limits established by government measures. adequate information ".

Vueling, Easyjet, Blue Panorama and Ryanair, following the intervention of the Consumer Authority, have made changes to the communications sent and to the assistance and reimbursement procedures in the event of cancellation or rescheduling of flights.

In particular, the airlines have limited the use of the reason for the Covid pandemic only to cases in which it was not objectively possible to operate the flight due to restrictions on transfers of people.

Furthermore, the carriers have provided for the possibility of requesting a monetary refund with certain times and through automated procedures.

Therefore, any choice to request the voucher is left only to the consumer.

Vueling, Easyjet, Blue Panorama and Ryanair also strengthened consumer assistance measures by providing free contact tools and through a significant increase in call center staff.
