Since the Conflans-Saint-Honorine attack, La France insoumise has been the target of many criticisms.
The government thus accuses the movement of Jean-Luc Mélenchon of Islamo-leftism, and of being the "party of shameful secularism".
The rebels denounce a "political trial" without any foundation.

Since the beheading of Samuel Paty last Friday in Yvelines, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and his movement have come under fire from critics.
The executive, the right and part of the left accuse the rebels of a lack of firmness, even of complacency, with Islamism.
“There is terrorism […] And there is ideology, which is much more insidious, it is political Islam, which has had its complicities for years in France, in political parties, rebellious France who never ceases to excuse political Islam, ”for example denounced the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire this Friday morning on Europe 1.
"[We are] a scapegoat of comfort for all kinds of characters and clans with the most diverse motivations", replied Thursday Jean Luc Mélenchon in a blog note entitled "the black week".
A fitting title because the member of Bouches-du-Rhône also had to apologize, after his controversial remarks on "the Chechen community".

What do we reproach against La France insoumise?
Like Bruno Le Maire, several members of the government have targeted rebels in recent days.
Thursday, the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer denounced "Islamo-leftism", targeting in particular the party of Mélenchon.
"In the ranks of France Insoumise, you have people who are of this current [and who] favor an ideology which then, from time to time, leads to the worst".
Gabriel Attal, the government spokesperson, accused LFI of being "the party of appeasement, shameful secularism and republican values with variable geometry", in

Words also heard on the right, but also on the left, among the former Socialist Prime Ministers Bernard Cazeneuve and Manuel Valls.

One of the main criticisms made against Jean-Luc Mélenchon is his participation, on November 10, 2019, in the march “against Islamophobia” to which Marwan Muhammad, former leader of the Collective against Islamophobia in France, had called in particular, that the government wants to dissolve today.
However, after the attacks of November 13, 2015 in Paris, the tribune contested until the very end of Islamophobia.
On these questions of secularism, opponents of LFI also regularly target comments deemed ambiguous by the deputy for Paris, Danièle Obono.
I dispute the term Islamophobia.

And to make matters worse, Jean-Luc Mélenchon got entangled alone in a controversy last Sunday.
After the Conflans attack, perpetrated by a young Chechen, the boss of LFI felt "that there [was] a problem with the Chechen community in France".
After these remarks, which created unease even within its ranks, the Association of Chechens in Europe asked its members to file a complaint for "incitement to hatred".

The rebels denounce "a politician trial"
Faced with pressure, the deputy for Marseille first "regretted having used the word" community "in connection with the Chechens".
For the rest, Jean-Luc Mélenchon called "to fight Islamism" and denounced "a witch hunt" concerning accusations of Islamo-leftism.
