There used to be a sense of duty to work together for a cause, but now it has weakened. In addition to the United States and Russia, the conflict between the United States and China is sharpening, and the issue is whether member countries can work together to tackle global issues such as infectious diseases and climate variability. ..

He added that it is necessary for other countries to unite in order to overcome the conflict between the great powers, and that "Japan can play a constructive role in finding a common understanding of each other in the age of division." He expressed his expectations for the role of Japan.

Regarding the future image of the United Nations, Mr. Hoschild said, "The world today is more influenced by civil society than before.
