Over the past day, 17,340 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Russia in 85 regions, which was the highest daily rate since the beginning of the epidemic.

A day earlier, 15,971 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country.

A total of 1 480 646 cases (+ 1.2%) of coronavirus infection were detected.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, 1,119,251 people (75.59%) have recovered, including 11,263 in the last day.

At the same time, 25,525 people (1.72%) died from complications that developed against the background of COVID-19 and concomitant diseases.

In 24 hours, 283 deaths were recorded.

Rospotrebnadzor reports that over the entire period, over 56.2 million laboratory tests for coronavirus were carried out, including 546 thousand in the last day.

338 798 people remain under medical supervision.

In Moscow, 5478 new cases of the disease were detected.

A day earlier, this figure reached 4413 cases.

According to the operational headquarters, 1240 patients with COVID-19 have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours.

There are 346 people on ventilators in Moscow hospitals.

In addition, the headquarters said that the number of PCR tests performed in the capital had crossed the 10 million mark. Moscow Deputy Mayor Anastasia Rakova said this.

“High-quality mass testing is extremely important in the fight against a pandemic, so we are constantly working to increase its volume.

Today, in Moscow, city, federal and private laboratories are already conducting an average of 90,000 tests for coronavirus per day, ”Rakova said.

It is also noted that tests for COVID-19 are taken without fail from townspeople with signs of acute respiratory viral infections, from patients with pneumonia, as well as from everyone living with a patient who has confirmed coronavirus.

Along with this, testing for coronavirus is a prerequisite for patients in non-communicable hospitals, including in the case of planned hospitalization.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, virologist Anatoly Altstein believes that the daily increase in the number of cases of coronavirus in Russia is not critical.

The expert associates the current dynamics with an increase in the volume of testing and more effective diagnostics.

“The number of tests has increased dramatically.

More such research is being done than in the spring.

It is possible that the growth that we see, to some extent - of course, without a doubt there is growth, 17 thousand, and there we had 12 thousand - it also depends on what we now better diagnose and investigate ”, - quotes the words of Altstein RIA Novosti.

The expert also suggested that Russia may reach a plateau in terms of incidence in November.

According to him, the plateau will be accompanied by "stagnant" indicators of the number of cases, but in winter these figures may grow slightly.

“This plateau can go higher in winter.

The plateau can go down to 10 thousand and it will take a long time.

A high plateau means more cases than it was in the summer.

This is natural, because this is a favorable season for this disease.

The weather changes in the direction of a colder snap, people have reduced immunity during this period, ”the virologist believes.

The situation is under control

The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov also said that the situation with the coronavirus in Russia remains tense, but is under control.

“The President spoke about this yesterday, nothing has changed since yesterday.

Indeed, the situation is under control - it is not easy, it is tense, but it is under control, ”said Peskov.

He added that in the regions, “measures were taken in advance to prepare for a possible continuation of the epidemic, of which we are now witnessing”.

A day earlier, Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, said that in the current situation there is no need to return to the restrictions that were introduced in Russia due to COVID-19 in the spring of 2020.

As the head of state noted, Russian medicine has effectively responded to the challenge of the pandemic, bed reserves have been created, medicines and treatment protocols have appeared.

Speaking about the actions of the authorities in the context of the spread of the virus, Putin indicated that the primary concern was caring for people.

“In Russia, from the very beginning of the epidemic, we put the main value - the life and safety of people - at the forefront.

And it was a deliberate choice, ”Putin stressed.
