The parents and brother of

Antonio Navarro

, whose death is attributed to a criminal plan by his wife,

María Jesús Moreno

, and one of his many lovers,

Salvador Rodrigo

, have described him as a "good-natured man" who "avoided problems" and that he was "super in love" with his wife.

Antonio's mother, Mercedes CM, described the day she learned of her son's death as "something horrible," a "nightmare" in which she only asked to see him while her daughter-in-law "didn't even speak to me."

On the contrary, the mother of the accused, Consuelo C., has exposed to the court the doubts that she always raised about her marriage.

"They were like oil and water and of course I advised him to get a divorce."

But, in addition, he has given a new version that his daughter, supposedly, gave him about what happened: "He told me that Salva had told him that he faced Antonio, that they had fought and that he killed him in self-defense."

The president of the court asked him for clarification as to when that conversation took place.

And, according to the mother, this was told to her before her daughter's arrest.

The apparently involuntary affirmation of the mother damages the defense strategy of her daughter's lawyers, Javier Boix and Alicia Andújar.

The version, still not formulated either by defenses or by researchers, is surprising in that it does not match the defense thesis that Maje did not know what had happened until Salvador told him.

According to the account of the events of the Public Prosecutor's Office and confirmed by the Police, Salvador, the material author of the eight stab wounds against Antonio, had bought a knife at a hardware store, was wearing gloves and was waiting for his victim hidden on the third floor of the garage.

According to the prosecutor, he attacked him "treacherously" and without the possibility of defending himself.

There was, therefore, no discussion or confrontation between the two.

The day this Thursday has focused on some relatives of Antonio and María Jesús, who have given details, among other issues, of the conflict that caused between the families the distribution of the inheritance and the purchase of the apartment they shared on Calamocha street in Valencia, in whose garage the so-called crime of Patraix took place, on August 16, 2017. For that criminal action, the Prosecutor's Office asks for 22 years in prison for her and 18 for Salvador Rodrigo, author of the eight stab wounds against Antonio.

Mercedes, Antonio's mother, explained that her son "never" lied to her.

"Before lying to me, he was silent."

And he explained that on the eve of his death, around 10:00 p.m., he spoke with him and told him that María Jesús had a guard at the hospital and, therefore, Antonio's vehicle was in the garage when he usually did not park it there.

On the day of the crime, Mercedes was initially withheld the truth to protect her.

Her husband and son, who had received a call from Maje's family, told her that Antonio and his wife had been in a serious traffic accident.

"I came to Valencia thinking that my son was hospitalized."

They came from Novelda by car and it was Manuel, a co-worker - who has admitted to being one of Maje's lovers - who traveled by motorcycle to guide them to the floor.

'Manu', according to his story, even offered him tranquilizer pills.

She rejected them.

"The blinds were down, everything was dark, nobody was telling me anything," he described.

"I kept asking where my son was and she (for Maje) didn't even look at me."

Antonio's family immediately went to the Civil Guard headquarters to report the events.

"It was like a scary movie" and "she was very cold ... I was drowning, I was drowning".

Vicente, Antonio's brother, still gave some more details of the scene on the afternoon that the crime occurred: "She was lying on the sofa, looking at the ground."

And "she didn't answer anything, as if she was stunned."

Vicente said that he was surprised when his sister-in-law told him that she was home at 12:00 in the morning and that "she had found all the cake."

Maje supposedly didn't leave work until noon.

"My schedules didn't fit anymore," he admitted.

The day after the death, summoned to the police station to testify, the two families met.

"Maje was with her father, mother and brother, but as if nothing were the case, she didn't speak to me, she didn't say anything to me except good morning."

And he continued: "That didn't make sense. I don't know how to explain it. It couldn't be."

Mercedes insisted on the good character of her son Antonio.

"He had no social life in Valencia, he only went to work and then home ... What they did to him is horrible."

The prosecutor in the case, Vicente Devesa, asked about the incident that a year before he got married forced Antonio to kick Maje out of the house where they already lived.

From what she told him, María Jesús met a caretaker from a nursing home in Petrer.

Antonio realized when he saw a mobile message when she went to the bathroom.

"She told him it was a lie."

In fact, he forced the young man to go home and explain.

There it seemed that the wedding would be ruined after almost four years of courtship.

But it was not like that.

She called to mend the relationship.

And Antonio accepted and, according to his mother, bought him the ring that she wanted.

"One of brilliants."

Those days, Maje slept at the home of another of her lovers, Tomás.

The mother, questioned by the lawyer Patricia Cogollos, described her son as a "wonderful" and "super-educated" man with whom she had a very trusting relationship.

"He was a good son" and a "very good friend."

For his wife "he went out of his way."

Her parents reproached her for having accepted Maje's request to go to Valencia to live when she had a contract in a hospital as a nurse.

"Antonio sucked the miles" for her.

"We told him that we didn't like her, but he replied that he loved her."

The weekend before Antonio's death, the couple were in Novelda at his parents' home.

"They were both kissing in the living room."

The victim's father insisted that they did not see anything abnormal in those previous days.

No arguments, no bad words.

"My son never told me I was in trouble."

He was, in his words, "the classic good-natured."

And he added: "Too bad they were cheating on him."

His brother Vicente described the relationship this way: "They were always cuddling each other."

The floor payment

Regarding how the apartment in which the couple lived on Calamocha street was paid, Antonio's family maintains that he paid 80,000 euros and she contributed 15,000.

And his brother Vicente, who was in charge of organizing all the paperwork, explained that it was done with two checks that appear in the deed.

And, according to their version, Maje's mother called them up to three times a day after Antonio's death to try to clarify the distribution of the inheritance.

"The mother said she had to rebuild her life," Vicente declared.

It was necessary to process the destination of the conjugal home, of Antonio's own money and the death insurance and that of the company.

In total, the widow was entitled to 34,000 euros in the settlement, plus the widow's pension, of just over 1,100 euros.

However, in Maje's family they admit that there was an economic "conflict" from the first moment, because his mother gave him 30,000 euros for the purchase of the apartment, which was later reflected only 50% in the deed.

Antonio's autopsy

Maje's mother explained to the jury that the day they both received the autopsy report on Antonio's body, which described the brutality of the attack and the tearing of the victim's heart and lungs, both broke to cry.

And her daughter expressed her pain with a sentence pronounced at the hearing by the defendant's lawyer: "No one deserves to die like Antonio has died."

Of deep religious convictions, Consuelo also maintained that, although they may consider her "stupid", she never suspected that the men her daughter was talking about had sexual relations with her daughter.

"It hadn't even crossed my mind," he insisted when the lawyer for Antonio Miguel Ferrer's family asked him directly if he knew the details of his daughter's sexual life.

And about the fact that she had extramarital affairs, she pointed out: "I cannot approve of that relationship being married. They will say that I am stupid, but I did not imagine that they were sexual."

She also elaborated on the idea that Maje suffered mistreatment from her husband: "He mistreated her more with his mouth than with his hands."

And when asked to describe that abuse, he cited: "pushing her off the floor."

When asked if he had witnessed it, he admitted that he had not.

"I have not seen it."

David, one of Maje's brothers, a medical student, explained to the court that he was in the Pyrenees when the events occurred and that he arrived the day after the crime.

"She was dejected" "very sad" and treated with painkillers.

According to his brother, he never had any problems with his sister, apart from the usual ones among relatives.

"She is not a violent woman at all," he declared.

"She is a super service person, a nice person."

She, he said, as a health professional "has taught me how to treat the patient."
