It was the night of June 22 that the police were alerted to Frykenbaden's campsite in Kil where a 76-year-old woman was found lifeless in a caravan.

Her 77-year-old husband was arrested and detained on suspicion of murder.

Claimed self-defense

According to the indictment, the woman died by strangulation or suffocation.

The suspect has always denied the murder charges, but during the trial the 77-year-old told that he took his hands around the woman's neck and shook her but that he then acted in self-defense after he was kicked and beaten by his wife.

The SOS call

The man who was heavily intoxicated during the night in question himself called SOS Alarm from the campsite in Kil and told them that he had strangled his wife.

During the trial, the alarm call was played.

The court heard how the man says to the alarm operator: "I took the life of my bitch" and then continues "I strangled her tonight".

The 77-year-old also expressed that he was happy that his wife was dead.

The conversation was part of prosecutor Rebecka Hällgren's strongest evidence against the man.

But the man himself said that it was not murder and that what was said in the conversation has an explanation.

SVT is looking for prosecutor Rebecka Hällgren and the man's lawyer Mats Hellman for comments.
