Tunstall has recently received attention for extensive problems with security alarms, which have now been linked to a death in Luleå, among other things.

The previous error was identified according to SVT's sources last spring, after an incident in Kramfors where relatives of a seriously ill person failed to use the alarm and instead had to call an ambulance via 112.

The person died, and although the alarm problem is not judged to have affected the tragic outcome, the municipality became aware of the shortcomings of Tunstall's alarm.

"We replaced everyone in a panic," says a person with knowledge of the course of events.

Information about what happened was spread to other municipalities - but not through any warning from Tunstall but through municipal staff tipping each other.

"Very disturbing"

In the autumn of 2019, both Krokom and Lindesberg requested that Tunstall also check their alarms.

Both municipalities were informed that several alarms had to be replaced - in Lindesberg 46.

- It was very worrying, says Patrik Borup, unit manager at Lindesberg municipality.

It took just over a month before the alarms were replaced, which according to the municipality was partly due to the fact that Tunstall did not want to bear the cost of letting the municipality's technicians do the replacement but rather sent their own staff.

"We still do not know when Tunstall will come and replace the alarms," it says in a report that the municipality sends to IVO.

When the alarms were finally replaced, it had been over six months since the incident in Kramfors.

Replaces everyone you find out about

Tunstall confirms to SVT that they have replaced older alarms "which have not been considered to have full functionality".

It is also stated that they have always replaced all incorrect alarms ”that we have become aware of from our customers who have a service agreement, service agreement or remaining warranty.

For customers who have not had or had this "and who feel that they have not had full functionality in our delivery, we have had a specific dialogue between us when we became aware of the problem."

In the affected municipalities, it is believed that the company should also provide information to all customers when identifying a serious error.

- The nightmare scenario is that someone dies because the alarm does not work, says Patrik Borup.
