The city of Strasbourg announces Thursday the cancellation of its traditional Christmas market, but the end-of-year activities will be maintained, in particular the Christmas tree and the "wanderings of artists".

The mayor (EELV) of Strasbourg Jeanne Barseghian announced Thursday that the city was giving up its traditional Christmas market in the face of the worsening health situation, by removing the usual 300 chalets but maintaining entertainment. "I made the decision to favor the scenario without chalets" while maintaining "Strasbourg, the capital of Christmas" with the big Christmas tree in Place Kléber in the heart of the city, "animations" or "artists' wanderings", she said at a press conference.
