  Moon Hongzhi said that South Korea and the United States have maintained close cooperation in accordance with the wartime operational command transfer plan, and jointly evaluated the progress of the transfer at the 52nd South Korea-US Security Conference held recently.

  On the 14th local time, South Korean Defense Minister Xu Xu and US Defense Secretary Mark Esper co-chaired the 52nd South Korea-US Security Conference in Washington, United States.

The joint statement after the meeting pointed out that with the joint efforts of both sides, the condition-based handover plan has made great progress. The two sides also reiterated that they must meet the handover conditions agreed upon by the two parties before handing over war rights to the future joint command.

  According to the report, there are three requirements for the Korean army to regain wartime combat command power: including core military strength; ability to respond to North Korean nuclear and missile weapons; and the peninsula and the regional security environment meet the conditions for the transfer of war power.

The leaders of South Korea and the United States will finally decide the specific handover time based on the results of the combat capability assessment and the recommendations of the two defense chiefs.
