For a year and a half, he lived through hell.

Between January 2016 and April 2017, a 55-year-old man was the victim of a couple he was hosting at his home in Bouxières-aux-Dames, in Meurthe-et-Moselle.

He was hit, burned but also relieved of 35,000 euros, according to L'Est Républicain.

All these misdeeds had finally been discovered thanks to the mother of the fifty-something, who had raised the alarm.

The two defendants, Oilid Zaouari and his partner Emilie Poutot, were tried this week before the Nancy Assize Court.

The first, who admitted acts of torture and barbarism, was sentenced to twenty years in prison.

As for the second, who did not take part in the violence but said nothing, she was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The victim did not attend the trial.

“He is still not able to bear the gaze of his torturer.

These two did not only break his bones, they stole his soul, ”explained his lawyer, Maître Behr, in comments reported by the regional daily.
