His explanations did not seem to convince the criminal court of Lyon.

A man in his thirties living in Barcelona was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison and imprisoned for drug trafficking.

The driver, who was driving a utility vehicle, had been checked two days earlier on the A43 motorway near the town of Saint-Clair-La-Tour in Isère, by Lyon customs.

The dog "stups" had marked on the load, police said.

He denies the facts

Following the animal's flair, customs officers got their hands on 17 kilos of cannabis hidden in an air conditioner.

The suspect then denied any involvement, claiming not to be aware of anything.

He explained that he took charge of four pallets in Barcelona to transport them to Stuttgart in Germany.

A version of the facts that he maintained during his immediate appearance without convincing the judges.
