Thaïs Brouk, journalist from France 24, went to meet traders from Korhogo, the fourth largest city in Côte d'Ivoire.

The famous "capital of the north", known for its painters, weavers and sculptors with ancient art, is also the cradle of the Sénoufo people.

Even if it remains poor, Korhogo has experienced significant investments in its infrastructure, which allows it to gradually catch up.

In June 2020, a jihadist attack on a border post located 200 km from Korhogo, near Burkina Faso, killed a dozen members of the Ivorian security forces, making it the first terrorist attack in the country since the attacks of Grand Bassam in 2016.

While the Burkinabè and Malian neighbors have lost security control over entire swathes of their territories.

The security issue, facing the jihadists, will be one of the great challenges of the next Ivorian president elected on October 31.
