According to reports, "Show Me The Monet" was created in 2005. The work is a copy and re-creation of Banksy based on the French impressionist Monet's work "Nihon Bridge and Water Lilies".

On the basis of copying Monet's paintings, Banksy also added elements such as abandoned supermarket carts and traffic cones to the paintings.

The auction house stated that after nearly 9 minutes of "contest" between five bidders, the painting was finally sold at Sotheby's auction house in London on October 21.

Originally, the estimated price of the painting was 3.5 million to 5 million pounds, but the final transaction price reached 7,551,600 pounds, which exceeded expectations.

Alex Branczik, Director of Sotheby’s European Contemporary Art Department, said: “In one of its most important paintings, Banksy puts the impressionist Monet’s symbol of the Japanese bridge in the famous garden of Giverny. Sexual depiction is transformed into a modern garbage dumping point.” “Banksy’s painting reveals that under the prevalence of excessive wasteful consumerism, society’s disregard for the environment.”
