The Australian Jai Hindley wins the stage with the “Cima Coppi” and teammate, the Dutch Wilco Kelderman wears the pink jersey.

This is the outcome of the 18th stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Pinzolo to the Cancano Lakes for 207 km.

Hindley sprinted to burn his escape companion, the British Tao Geoghegan Hart.

At 46 "the Spaniard Pello Bilbao, at 1'25 Jakob Fuglsang, at 2'18" Kelderman, who from second in the general classification leaps to the command, as the former pink jersey, the Portuguese João Almeida, closes 7th at 4 ' 51 ", preceded by the Austrian Patrick Konrad at 4'04". The new general classification sees Kelderman in the lead with 12 "ahead of Hindley and 15" over Geoghegan Hart.

The eighteenth stage of the Giro featured four very challenging climbs: Campo Carlo Magno (1,681 meters), Passo Catrin (1,704 meters), Stelvio with its 2,758 meters, Torri di Fraele 1,938, then arrival at 1,945 of the Cancano Lakes. A grueling stage of over six hours, for an overall difference in altitude of 5,700 meters.



From a previous escape, Ben O'Connor, winner in Madonna di Campiglio, remains ahead of him. Rohan Dennis catches up and overcomes him team mate Geoghegan Hart; with them Hindley, who gets behind the wheel. In the ascent of the Stelvio through the snow and the wind, the images of Hindley's difficulty in putting on his cape will remain in the eyes, risking to fall. "Cima Coppi" the leading trio climbs with 47 "on Kelderman, 1'44" on Fuglsang and Bilbao, 2'33 "on Nibali 2'33". Almeida with Masnada, Pernsteiner, Konrad and Majka passes at 3'38 " .

art to contend with Hindley who never gives him the change, to protect Kelderman in the conquest of the pink jersey.

Behind, however, the Dutchman goes into difficulty and is overtaken by Fuglsang and Bilbao, who then leave behind Dennis too;

but then the Dane slows down and Bilbao finds himself alone in pursuit of the leading pair.

Nibali is joined by Almeida, Masnada, Konrad and Pernsteiner, while Majka comes off.



The nineteenth stage will take the Giro da Morbegno to Asti for 258 km, practically all on the plains.

The sprinters who have "survived" the Alps will play.
