At Villeneuve-Saint-Georges hospital, in the Paris suburbs, tension is mounting in the emergency department.

It's a common place but the emergency department is swarming.

Next to the waiting room are the nurses who organize the reception.

Depending on certain symptoms, patients are referred directly to the Covid-19 space or referred to the traditional sector

 ", explains one of them.

The emergencies of the Villeneuve-Saint-George hospital have indeed kept the organization in two routes since the first wave.

“

We have quite a few Covid-19 entries, but we also have all the other patients alongside.

While during the first wave of Covid-19, we only had Covid patients

, ”says Danièle, health executive.

A crowd that is difficult to manage

Patients should not mix as the crowds are more and more complicated to apprehend.

“

The two flows at the same time, it's not manageable at all.

There is a system of levels that has been put in place, we are already at the second level and in a very short time we will be at the third level, with deprogramming which is being done

, explains Corinne Bergeron, the head of service.

But here, we know that we will not be able to deprogram everything.

In the first wave, the system had held up, but here we can see that we are reaching the limits of our system and it is dangerous.

“All the more dangerous as the winter period has not yet started, it which in normal times already puts the emergency under tension.

The health situation continues to deteriorate in France.

The country recorded a new record, with 41,622 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in 24 hours, 15,000 more than the day before.

It is approaching one million people infected and the positivity rate continues to climb to 14.3% against 13.7% the day before, and only 4.5% at the beginning of September.

France has recorded 165 new deaths linked to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours and now deplores 34,210 deaths since the start of the epidemic.

We are going to look for nurse anesthetists in the operating theaters, but if we take them, we reduce the capacity of the operating theaters.
