After having crowned the Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti last year, the European Parliament awarded, this Thursday, October 22, its Sakharov Prize for human rights to the Belarusian opposition.

The democratic opposition to President Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus led by its figurehead Svetlana Tikhanovskaïa receives this October 22 the Sakharov Prize awarded each year by the European Parliament.
