22 October 2020 The Belgian foreign minister and former premier, Sophie Wilmès, 45, positive for Covid-19, was admitted to intensive care.
This was reported in the Belgian press after confirmation by Wilmès' spokesperson.
She was hospitalized last night.
"He is conscious and can communicate," his spokesperson said, "his condition is stable."
The prime minister, Alexander de Croo, who succeeded Wilmès on October 1st, wished her a "speedy recovery" on his Twitter profile.

With 10,539 coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic, Belgium is the second country in the world with the highest number of deaths in relation to its population (11.5 million).
The positivity rate, the proportion of positive people out of all those tested, has now reached 16.3% nationwide and a record high of 24.5% in the Brussels region.
A renewed partial lockdown has forced the closure of pubs and restaurants.
The number of confirmed infections doubled in one month to 253,386 and 3,274 patients are currently hospitalized.
