At the beginning of October, the project was launched with Corona ambassadors at upper secondary schools in Kalmar County.

Students who in various ways would help reach out to young people about the seriousness of the situation and that everyone must follow the restrictions.

Julia Burghart is one of the ambassadors at Hultsfred High School.

A few weeks ago, they held a large meeting where representatives from all classes at the school were present.

- They have been asked questions that they should talk about, how to adapt the school so it becomes more corona safe.

It can be anything from schedule changes, that you adapt the lunches more, that you open up both queues to the dining room, says Julia Burghart.

More and more cases in schools

At the beginning of the autumn term, Hultsfred's gymnasium quickly switched to distance education for a number of classes after two confirmed cases of covid-19 at the school.

On Monday, Sunnerbogymnasiet in Ljungby did the same.

Cases at upper secondary schools and upper secondary schools in Kalmar and Västervik, among others, have been reported recently.

Although many adjustments have been made, it is difficult to change the attitudes of young adults.

Some students have asked for punishment and reprimands for those who do not keep their distance, but the school does not have the opportunity to introduce something like that, says Andreas Ekberg, principal at Hultsfred High School.

- It is difficult to take responsibility for everything, because it is very much about how students and staff act in a large workplace as a school.

Do not want to be a supervisor

The idea is that the ambassadors should be able to influence their classmates' views on the risk of infection.

But Julia Burghart does not see it as her job to be a supervisor at the school.

Does it feel hopeless to be able to do something, to be an ambassador in this situation?

- Maybe a little, but you have to try to do your best.
