Tegnell about the Uppsala Council: "More measures may be needed"

The decision to introduce local stricter guidelines in Uppsala is primarily a consequence of the fact that the health service in the county has noted a higher number of corona infections in its intensive care units.

- We believe that this is the right period to implement the measures.

Uppsala residents are now urged to avoid physical contact with people outside the family, but exactly what this means is not entirely easy to understand.

Good to visit stores

According to Anders Tegnell, it is above all about refraining from parties and other larger gatherings and private events.

However, it is still okay to go to stores and visit the hairdresser.

- It depends on how they (the activities) are organized.

There are certainly many there who have a good and safe way of working and then you can certainly continue.

It is not on those occasions that we see a large spread of infection, he says.

Current: Isn't there a risk that this will become diffuse?

- No, in the spring we definitely did not have that feeling.

Then we had even more vague advice than now and had a very good effect on it.

At the same time, we see that in many of the countries where they have tried to be square, it has gone very wrong.

May be relevant with more measures

The stricter guidelines in Uppsala apply for the next two weeks.

If the Uppsala region and the Public Health Agency judge that the situation has stabilized until then, the new councils will be lifted - but if the development continues to go in the wrong direction, more advice is to be expected instead.

- If we start to see spread in other areas, we may have to expand this.

We have six or seven different types of measures that you can move forward with, says Anders Tegnell.

At the same time as the first local councils are being introduced, many older people are hoping for relief in the recommendations for people over the age of 70.

According to Anders Tegnell, it is likely that a message about it will come before the turn of the year. 

- I really think we can be set on that, he says in Aktuellt.
