According to the New York Times, Donald Trump has bank accounts in only three foreign countries.

Two of them are the United Kingdom and Ireland - and the last is China.

The foreign accounts are not among Trump's public financial records, where he has to list personal assets, as they are under company names.

The account in China is controlled by Trump International Hotels Management LLC.

According to the New York Times, they must have paid 188,561 dollars, equivalent to almost 1,670,000 kronor, in taxes in China between 2013 and 2015.

Lawyer: No business has been done

Alan Garten, a lawyer for the Trump organization, says the company opened the account after establishing an office in China.

The aim was to explore the possibilities of doing hotel business in Asia.

- No transactions, transactions or other business activities have ever been realized and since 2015 the office has been inactive.

Although the bank account has remained open, it has never been used for any other purpose.

The news comes after Trump criticized Joe Biden's son Hunter's dealings with the country.

Senate Republicans have released a report claiming, among other things, that Hunter Biden opened a bank account with a Chinese businessman.
