How will the ceremony take place?

After the arrival of the coffin in the courtyard of the Sorbonne, around 7:30 p.m., a song will be performed by the orchestra of the Republican Guard and the masters of Radio France and two texts will be read by students and teachers.

Emmanuel Macron will speak, but not for a "belligerent" speech, specifies his entourage.

The Head of State should recall the links between France and freedom of expression, France and freedom of conscience.

"Knowledge liberates, ignorance oppresses", recalls for his part an adviser to the president.

This speech will be followed by a minute of silence in tribute to the history and geography professor.

Giant screens will be installed on the Place de la Sorbonne and near the Panthéon to allow the general public to follow this tribute, indicates LCI.

What do teachers expect from it?

"We would like the President of the Republic to express for the whole of the educational community the support of the nation for its school, its teachers. It is important", affirms at the microphone of Europe 1 Frédéric Marchand, secretary general of Unsa Education.

Teachers expect Emmanuel Macron to also recall the centrality of school in the Republic.

This implies drawing lessons, explains Frédérique Rolet, SNES secretary: "This supposes that we help teachers to do their job, that we provide them with protection and support when they encounter difficulties, as has been the case. case for Samuel Paty. "

And in the rest of France?

On Wednesday evening, teachers will gather all over France to join in the national tribute paid to this history-geography teacher.

Asked about the start of the school year after the All Saints holidays, the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, explained that "the true common moment of the Nation" will be "on November 2" and "the following days".

"It is necessary that, from the Monday of the re-entry, we see that the force is on the side of the Republic and that it is a serene force and which goes against the assassins", launched Jean-Michel Blanquer.
