- To remove the municipal veto is to transfer power from the locals to the state and that is the wrong way to go, says William Elofsson (M), opposition councilor in Gävle.

Off the coast of Gävle, a company recently had to back down from its plans for a large wind farm, called Utposten 1, after political opinion turned.

An example of how the veto stands in the way of a climate change according to Gävle's municipal councilor Therese Metz (MP), who, however, does not want to relinquish municipal control completely.

- There will be no climate change if we are to project lots of places and then so many municipalities say no in the end, says Therese Metz (MP).
