21 October 2020The 2020 European football championships for under 19, scheduled in Northern Ireland and already postponed at the time, have been definitively canceled by UEFA "due to the epidemiological situation in Europe". This was announced by the continental football confederation.

As a result of this decision, France, England, Italy, Holland and Portugal are automatically qualified for the Under 20 World Cup scheduled from May 20 to June 12 2021 in Indonesia, thanks to their Uefa coefficient.

The Under-19 European Championships should have taken place last July, with the final on 1 August, then they had been postponed to November and then to March 2021. Now UEFA has decided to cancel them due to the second wave of the virus.
