Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Karabakh issue at this stage has no diplomatic solution.

“The Karabakh issue has no diplomatic solution, and from this moment it will not be for a long time ... Practice has shown that what is acceptable for Armenia is unacceptable for Azerbaijan.

This shows that it is pointless to talk about some kind of diplomatic solution, at least at this stage, ”he said in a video message on Facebook.

Along with this, the Armenian prime minister called on his compatriots to stand up to defend the country with arms in hand.

“Our task is to fight to the end, without a trace, in the name of the rights of our people.

Today, against the background of Azerbaijan's position, to fight for the rights of our people means, first of all, to take up arms and go to defend the homeland, ”Pashinyan said.

He added that, in his opinion, all natives of Karabakh should return to Stepanakert and join the local Defense Army.

In addition, Pashinyan called on the heads of state structures and local self-government bodies to form volunteer detachments under the general leadership of the Chief of the General Staff.

Baku responded to Pashinyan's statement about the impossibility of resolving the issue through diplomatic means.

Aide to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev said that Baku considers it possible to resolve the situation on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions.

"The Republic of Azerbaijan supports the settlement of the conflict through negotiations in accordance with the existing roadmap based on the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council," RIA Novosti quotes Hajiyev.

At the same time, the assistant to the Azerbaijani president indicated that, in his opinion, the position voiced by Pashinyan indicates that Yerevan does not intend to resolve the conflict through negotiations.

“With this statement, the Armenian leadership recognizes that the goal of Armenia is to preserve the occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan.

This once again confirms that the statements of official Yerevan on the settlement of the conflict through negotiations are nothing more than hypocrisy, ”Hajiyev said.

It should be reminded that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh entered an acute phase on September 27, when armed clashes broke out between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The parties blamed each other for the aggravation.

Thus, in Baku they announced a "military provocation" from the Armenian side.

In Yerevan, in turn, they reported about the "beginning of the offensive" of the Azerbaijani troops.

Martial law was introduced in both republics, and the Armenian authorities also announced the mobilization of reservists.

After the beginning of the aggravation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the presidents of Russia, France and the United States (the leaders of the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, which is looking for ways to peacefully resolve the Karabakh conflict), adopted a joint statement condemning the escalation of violence, and also called for an immediate ceasefire.

According to the latest statements by the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides, clashes continue in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

In particular, in Yerevan they announced about battles in the south of the unrecognized republic.

“The fighting in the south continues.

Basically, small groups of the enemy are neutralized in local battles, ”Artsrun Hovhannisyan, a representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry, wrote on Facebook.

The day before, Baku also announced active clashes in a number of areas during the day on October 20 and on the night of October 21.

“The fighting continued with varying intensity in the Aghderin, Fizuli-Jabrayil and Gubadli directions of the front.

The enemy fired at the defensive positions of the Azerbaijani army from small arms, mortars and artillery, ”the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

In addition, the Azerbaijani side announced that the battalion of the 556th regiment of the Armenian Armed Forces was disabled during the hostilities in Karabakh.

“Most of the personnel of the battalion, which consisted of about 400 contract servicemen, was incapacitated.

The military unit returned to the city of Ararat of Armenia for remanning, ”the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

In turn, the authorities of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic reported another 62 Armenian servicemen killed per day.

Thus, the total number of soldiers killed was 834.
