China News Agency, Phnom Penh, October 21 (Reporter Ouyang Kaiyu) The continuous flooding disaster has caused at least 410,000 people in Cambodia to be affected. Faced with the dual pressure of flood fighting and epidemic prevention, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen called on financial institutions to allow debtors to delay repayment on the 21st.

Hun Sen made the above remarks on the same day when visiting the people affected by the floods in Banteay Meanchey Province, a hard-hit area.

Hun Sen said that in the floods in many parts of the country this time, banks and small loan institutions should allow debtors to delay repayments, lower interest rates, and refrain from confiscating the property of debtors unable to repay.

Hun Sen expressed condolences to the unfortunate victims in the flood and emphasized that the people of the whole country should give full play to the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance in the disaster.

At the same time, in the face of the impact of the epidemic and floods on economic development, the Cambodian government is formulating an economic recovery plan to help the Cambodian economy return to the track of rapid growth.

Cambodia’s Minister of Economy and Finance, On Ben Monilo, pointed out that the recent floods caused by heavy rains have further put pressure on Cambodia’s fiscal revenue, especially the need to allocate funds to repair the flood-damaged transportation and irrigation infrastructure.

Umbun Monilo revealed that the economic recovery plan under development is the economic revitalization strategy and measures formulated by the Cambodian government in response to economic development at home and abroad in the next 3 to 5 years.

Cambodia hopes that through this medium-term plan, the country's economy will return to the growth line.
