"At certain stages of the route, strategic missile carriers were accompanied by Su-35s fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces, MiG-31 naval aviation of the Russian Navy, as well as F-22 fighters of the US Air Force," RIA Novosti reported.
The flight duration of the Tu-95MS was about 12 hours.
As noted in the Ministry of Defense, such flights over neutral waters are performed by Russia on a regular basis in accordance with international rules.
In late August, NATO fighters escorted Russian Tu-142s in the far sea zone.
