SVT Nyheter has randomly selected five different departures at different dates and times and calculated how large a proportion of the seats have been blocked for booking.

On all five high-speed trains, this is 22 percent, which means that 78 percent of the seats can be booked.

This is more than at the beginning of the summer when the train company was heavily criticized for the fact that the journeys were not sufficiently infectious.

But according to SJ, the calculation does not correspond to reality.

- It is not possible to count in that way because all blocked places are not always shown at one and the same time, says Stephan Ray at SJ's press service.

He does not want to go out with the percentage of places that can be booked "because it varies depending on the type of train".

"We can do no more"

After criticism of congestion and chaos on the trains this summer, SJ reduced the number of bookable seats from 75 to 65 percent.

This autumn, the train company has announced that they are dropping off more passengers than before.

According to Stephan Ray, SJ can still ensure safe travel by being clear about what applies during the trips.

- If you want to sit by yourself, you make sure to book a seat where the space next door is blocked.

If you are ill, you do not travel at all.

We can not do more than we do now, he says.

"You have to take your own responsibility"

On regional trains and night trains, for example, it is not possible to choose which place you want to sit in or see which places are blocked.

- The regional trains have some carriages with bookable seats and some without.

There you have to judge for yourself if you want to travel.

If there are too many people in a car, you have to take your own responsibility and tell or change the car, says Stephan Ray.
