His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, issued Federal Decree No. 156 of 2020 regarding the appointment of a Minister of State, Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, as Supreme President of the United Arab Emirates University, and Nusseibeh raised the highest signs of gratitude, appreciation and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan, on the great confidence in the issuance of the decree, stressing that this assignment is a great honor and honor, and a great responsibility that he hopes he can perform with strength and effort.
Nusseibeh told "Emirates Today" that there are four future directions for the Emirates University, besides focusing on supporting scientific research, working to strengthen national leadership and finding suitable and qualified people for academic and administrative positions at the university, and expanding the number of local and international students enrolled in the various university programs, in addition to Continuing to develop the academic programs currently supervised by the Board of Trustees to define new curricula, in accordance with the directions of the UAE government, and in line with the UAE Vision 2071.
He added: “The United Arab Emirates University has a peculiarity because it is the mother university that was founded by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in the first years of the union, in order to qualify the emerging generation in the Emirates to face the challenges of the future, and in order to bring the nation's children together in a university. One, and we will make sure that the university continues its steps in progress and work so that the UAE University ranks among the first universities in the global ranking of higher education institutions.
He said: “The United Arab Emirates University must continue its progress, especially as it has achieved a distinguished position in the list of world university rankings, and we must work to support its progress by focusing on the development of scientific research, especially as the scientific research published in international periodicals reflects the strength of the university.” That the university, in the coming period, will cooperate with international and local universities in order to achieve a scientific level that grows and flourishes.
