  • USA.Trump lashes out at "stupid" critics of his party

The Presidential Debate Commission, a nonpartisan body that organizes these face-to-face, announced Monday that it

will turn off the microphones

of the president and Republican candidate for re-election, Donald Trump, and his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, during parts of the event. next Thursday.

This decision comes after the first (and only to date) face-to-face between Trump and Biden at the end of September led

to chaos and multiple interruptions

, especially from the president to his opponent.

Next Thursday, which will take place in Nashville (Tennessee),

will last 90 minutes and will be divided into six parts of 15 minutes

each, whose first four minutes will be divided by Trump and Biden for a first uninterrupted statement of two minutes.

It will be those two minutes that each candidate will enjoy at the beginning of each song during which

the microphone of their rival will be off to guarantee that there are no interruptions.

In a statement, the Presidential Debate Commission stressed that "both campaigns reaffirmed again this week their agreement with the rule of two uninterrupted minutes."

"The Commission announces today that to guarantee compliance with this agreed norm, the only candidate whose microphone will be on during these two-minute periods will be the candidate who has the floor," he said.

The remaining minutes in each of the issues will be with both microphones open, although the Commission noted that

"its hope is that the candidates will be respectful of each other's time"

despite having the opportunity to question or interrupt each other.

"We realize, after discussing it with both campaigns, that neither is fully satisfied with the announced measures. One may think that they are going too far and the other that they fall short.

We feel comfortable that these measures strike the right balance and that they are of the interest of the people, "

added the Commission.

The first face-to-face was much commented on by Trump's constant interruptions that led to Biden losing his papers at some point and he ended up blurting out to the president

"Why don't you shut up, man?"
