The employee of an animal park in Shanghai (China) was fatally attacked by several bears on Saturday.

The scene, images of which are circulating on social networks, took place in front of some visitors to the Shanghai Wildlife Park.

The latter were in a bus, the only way to access the “wild beasts area” where the tragedy took place.

It is a place in which animals can roam freely, explains the BBC.

The management of the establishment sent its condolences to the family of its deceased collaborator.

Ella said in a statement that she was "particularly upset that such a tragedy has occurred."

Shanghai Wildlife Park officials also apologized to tourists who witnessed the employee's death.

The area closed to the public

An internal investigation was also carried out.

The leaders assured "do their best to manage the aftermath of the incident" and work to improve security within the establishment.

The “wild beasts area” is currently closed to the public.

The death of the employee and the images of his death made the Chinese react on the subject of animal parks.

Some have argued that the only way to avoid these tragedies is to outright shut down zoos.

They felt that the bears followed their wild animal instincts when they went after their victim.

Others pointed to management responsibility and security deficiencies.
