China News Service, October 20. According to "Russia Today" reports, on the 19th local time, the Greek government said that it had finalized a plan to build a separation wall on the Greek-Turkish border to prevent a large number of immigrants from illegally entering Greece.

The spokesman for the Greek government, Petsas, stated that an approximately 26-kilometer-long fence will be built on top of the existing 10-kilometer-long fence, adding that the project will be completed by the end of April 2021.

According to reports, the 5-meter-high fence will cost about 63 million euros.

On March 1, 2020 local time, a refugee with a child was heading to the Turkish-Greek border.

The Greek Ministry of Public Order stated that the wall will be composed of galvanized square steel pipes and concrete foundations.

In addition, the police also revealed that it will establish a monitoring network covering the entire Greek-Turkish border, and has begun trials of high-power mobile alarms.

According to previous reports, at the end of February 2020, due to the escalating conflict between Turkey and Syria, Turkey announced that it would no longer abide by the agreement reached with the European Union in 2016, opening the door for refugees to enter Europe, and "will not close", causing European dissatisfaction.

At the same time, both Greece and Turkey also started a "war of words."

Turkey accused the Greek authorities of shooting and hurting migrants near the border.

But Greece denied it and stated that the Turkish police were helping immigrants to cross the border illegally.

It is said that in 2016, the EU and Turkey reached an agreement on cooperation to resolve the refugee crisis.

The EU promised to provide 6 billion euros in aid to Turkey in exchange for restrictions on refugees from Turkey to travel to Europe.

However, EU countries have not paid Turkey in full so far.
