After the assassination of Samuel Paty, beheaded near his college in Conflans-Saint-Honorine on Friday, Gerald Darmanin wants "to prevent any act that could be committed by imitation".

"I ask you to remind the police under your authority of the need to show increased vigilance, particularly with regard to the protection of schools," wrote the Minister of the Interior in a telegram dated Sunday, revealed by Le Figaro.

"Any threats likely to weigh" on teachers, staff or students will have to be "quickly raised", writes the minister.

"Calls to hatred and specific threats" on social networks, accused of having encouraged the attacker to take action, should be subject to "appropriate treatment making it possible to analyze the level of threat and put in place the necessary protective measures ”.

Weekly meetings of prefects

To analyze the risks, the prefects are urged to bring together "on a weekly basis" the departmental assessment groups (GED), made up under their authority of those responsible for internal security, the national police and the gendarmerie.

They are also invited to take care of "people reported in the process of radicalization", within the framework of the units of prevention of radicalization and support of families (CPRAF), a device created in 2014.
