Escape to… 100 meters.

This Tuesday, Peter Madsen was arrested on the outskirts of Albertslund prison on the outskirts of Copenhagen.

The Dane is sentenced to life for the murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall in a home-made submarine.

He was initially surrounded and held in play by the police before being finally arrested and “evacuated from the scene” at midday, Danish police announced on Twitter.

The police had previously confirmed his brief escape attempt, which began in the morning, which led him to a few hundred meters from the penitentiary center where he is serving his sentence.

A prison psychologist taken hostage

According to local press reports, Peter Madsen threatened prison staff with an object resembling a pistol and took a prison psychologist hostage to facilitate their escape.

Witnesses cited by the media said he was driving a white van when he was found by police less than a kilometer from the prison.

However, he was not immediately arrested: before his arrest, he remained for a long time sitting in the grass and leaning against a row of trees, surrounded by two policemen lying on the ground, weapons pointed at him, can we see on images disseminated by the media.

He had admitted having cut up the body

The 49-year-old inventor was convicted in April 2018 for his premeditated murder, preceded by sexual violence by Kim Wall.

On the evening of August 10, 2017, the 30-year-old journalist boarded the Nautilus with Peter Madsen, the designer and owner of the submersible.

She wanted to portray this self-taught engineer obsessed with the conquest of seas and space.

Kim Wall was reported missing overnight by her companion and her body was later found at sea, dismembered.

During the trial, he admitted having cut the lifeless body of the young woman before throwing her in the Baltic, but maintained that her death was accidental.
