It was in January 2020 that the three-year-old girl was found dead at the home of her biological parents, after the compulsory care of the girl ended.

During the year, the Health and Care Inspectorate examined how the social services committee in Norrköping handled Esmeralda's case.

Appointed working group

The committee has given the social services office in Norrköping the task of delving into IVO's report and initiating an action plan.

- We have now made a formal decision on the issue.

We have also made a decision to also appoint a working group within the committee to see how we will develop our working method in the future, says Andreas Bohlin (S), chairman of the social committee.

The day after IVO presented its review, the social welfare committee gathered for a previously planned committee meeting.

Experts should delve into the report

- What happened after the social committee's meeting is that I appointed a working group of experts and managers for us to delve into IVO's report.

We also have a meeting booked with representatives from IVO to find out more about the review and what they looked at, says Yvonne Thilander, director of the social services office.

What kind of experts are there?

- The office has appointed this working group following the criticism from IVO.

These are people who have expertise in the area and they are people who already work in the office, says Andreas Bohlin (S) to SVT Nyheter Öst.
