Forcing them to complete their education "remotely" after school hours

A private school that changes its educational system and confuses students' families

A private school in Dubai suddenly changed the education system that the parents of its students agreed upon, prior to the start of the current school year, about two months after the start of the study, without consulting the students' families about whether the new system was appropriate to their circumstances or not.

The students' families informed "Emirates Today" that the school system, which they agreed with the school on before the start of the school year, was based on a combination of school education for a period of three days a week, and distance education for two days, and during school days the student gets five classes within the class However, the school administration changed the system, and approved the teaching of only three lessons inside the classroom at the school, and two classes that students receive “online” at their homes, without prior notice, which caused confusion for families, especially employees.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai stressed that the school does not have the right to make amendments to its approved plan for the current academic year without consulting with the families of its students, and obtaining prior approval from the authority on the modifications, while Emirates Today was not able to obtain a response from the school. About the reasons for modifying her plan.

In detail, Diana Azheiman, Randa Jabri, and Shaima Sayed, mothers of students in the first grades of a private school in Dubai, told Emirates Today that they had received several phone calls and emails from the school administration, before the start of the current school year, to consult with them about the system. The educational system that they want to apply to their children, so most of the parents of the students chose full school time, but the school chose to have the educational system combining the students 'school hours (3 days a week) and distance learning (two days a week), so the students' families accepted this system.

And they continued: “We were surprised, about two months after the start of the school year, that the school administration has modified the approved education system, without prior notice, so that students receive only three lessons inside the school on the three approved working days, and then virtually complete the school day, after returning to their homes, But the amendment made by the school administration applied it first, then notified the families two days after its implementation.

And they added that changing the students ’attendance system in the school caused great confusion among their families, especially among female employees, because this requires that the student return home early, while his parents are working in their jobs, in addition to that he needs follow-up during the“ online ”classes, as well as the The student returns from school after the school bus trip, exhausted, and has no ability to receive lessons upon his return.

The mothers indicated that the school administration isolated itself from the students' families, as they could not communicate with her, either by phone, or through the school's e-mail, or its director.

On the other hand, the Executive Director of the Permits and Compliance Sector at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, Mohammed Ahmed Darwish, said: “Private schools in Dubai adhere to the deadlines for applying the approved learning models in each school, based on the procedures for reopening private schools in Dubai for the current academic year, And which is included in the school contract and the guardian, as it is the legal document that includes the rights and responsibilities of both the school and the parent, and the school has no right to make any modifications to its approved readiness plan for the current academic year except upon prior consultation with parents, and obtaining prior approval from the authority in this regard », And according to the rules, procedures and regulations in force.

While it was not possible for «Emirates Today» to obtain a response from the school administration, about the reasons for changing the education system that it had previously adopted, in consultation with the students ’families.
