A bloody battle against Changjin Lake, a heavy blow to the American ace division!

On November 1, 1950, there was a bit of chill in the air in the northern late autumn. At this time, the commanders of the 27th Army of the 9th Corps boarded a military train in the dark.

Due to the sudden incident, many soldiers who boarded the train did not know where the transfer was going and what mission they shouldered...

The military train screamed and galloped, and the two lanterns hung in the carriage dangling in midair.

Under the faint light, Chi Haotian, deputy instructor of the 3rd Battalion, 235th Regiment, 79th Division, 9th Corps, and other leaders of the battalion conveyed to the entire battalion that Commander Zhu De was in the 9th Corps of the East China Military Region on October 29 The resident Qufu made a report on "The Situation of the Korean War and the Significance of Entering North Korea."

Only then did the soldiers learn that this emergency operation was not going south, but going north.

On November 1, the designation of the 9th Corps of the Chinese People's Liberation Army on the way was changed to the 9th Corps of the Chinese People's Volunteers.

After the first battle of the Volunteers, the US 8th Army on the Western Front was forced to retreat, but the US 10th Army on the Eastern Front continued to advance north.

In order to change the situation of the battlefield on the eastern front, on October 31st, Mao Zedong sent a message to the East China Military Region: All the 9th Corps will start on November 1, with one army open first, and the other two armies moving forward without interruption.

After arriving in the war zone, under the command of the Volunteer Army Headquarters, the goal was to find opportunities on the eastern front to annihilate the South Korean Army’s Capital Division, the 3rd Division, the 1st American Marine Division and the 7th Infantry Division.

Formed in 1941, the 1st Division of the US Marines, although it was not established for a long time, has experienced a bloody battle to seize the island in the Pacific War. It is full of 25,000 personnel and can be called the trump card of the trump card.

Facing this trump card force, the 9th Corps of the Volunteers showed no fear.

On November 24, the 1st Division of the US Marines entered the Changjin Lake area.

The 9th Corps of the Volunteer Army decided to seize the dispersal of the U.S. forces. It has not yet found a favorable opportunity for the assembly of the Volunteers. It concentrated its forces and launched a full-line attack on the U.S. forces in the Changjin Lake area on the evening of November 27.

By the early morning of November 28th, the 9th Corps of the Volunteers had completed the division and encirclement of the US Army in the Changjin Lake area, dividing and encircling the main forces of the 1st American Marine Division and the 7th Infantry Division in Xinxingli and south of Changjin Lake. Xiajieyu Li and Liutanli in the west.

On the morning of November 29, the U.S. forces in Xia Jie Yuli broke out southward.

Sticking to Xiaogaoling in the southeast of 1071.1 Highland in Xiajieyuli is the 3rd platoon led by Yang Gensi, the 3rd company commander of the 172nd regiment of the 58th Division of the 20th Army.

As soon as the battle began, the U.S. army violently attacked the three rows of positions, and the snow-capped hills were beaten into a scorched earth.

The U.S. military launched 8 consecutive assaults on a rare occasion, all of which were beaten by 3 rows.

Only company commander Yang Gensi and two wounded were left on the battlefield, and all the ammunition had been exhausted.

At the moment of life and death, Yang Gensi ordered the two wounded to leave the position with heavy machine guns.

Yang Gensi, who was alone, faced the 9th attack of the US army, not afraid of danger, and calmly dealt with it.

When Xu Kun was the creator of the 20th Army Art Troupe:

At this time, more than 40 enemies came up. He picked up the only last explosive package, pulled the fuse and rushed towards the enemy group, and died with the enemy.

When Yang Gensi died, he was only 28 years old.

On November 29, 1950, according to changes in the enemy's situation, Song Shilun, commander and political commissar of the 9th Corps of the Volunteer Army, decided to concentrate his forces to wipe out the besieged enemy point by point.

On November 30, the 5th regiment of the 27th Army launched a general offensive against the 7th Division of the Xinxing Rimi Infantry, and the US defense line was stabbed to pieces.

Luo Yuan, former Vice Minister of the World Military Research Department of the Academy of Military Sciences:

The 4th company of the 239th regiment of the 80th Division of the 27th Army was assigned the task of interspersing overnight and directly into the 31st regiment of the US Army.

The 2nd Battalion of the 239th Regiment went straight to Huanglong and rushed into the enemy's command post.

What is even more legendary is that a special task assigned by the battalion’s cooking squad leader before the war allowed the volunteers to obtain an unexpected trophy.

Gao Shengxuan, then chief of the 80th Division of the 27th Army:

Before the war, the battalion’s cooking squad leader gave a communication squad leader of the 3rd battalion a task, saying that when you are in war, find me a piece of cloth so that I can steam buns.

After the battle, the communications squad leader looked for cloth everywhere, and found a good quality cloth, and he brought it back.

Sun Youjie, editor of the newspaper of the 27th Army Political Department:

Someone found out that the leader was reported. The leader went out to take a look. Don't move this. This is a flag of the United States. It is a flag of the polar bear group.

The regiment headquarters was dismissed, and the US Army in Xinxingli collapsed. The 31st regiment of the 7th Division of the US Infantry, known as the "Polar Bear Regiment", was annihilated in the early morning of December 2.

This battle created the only battle in which the Volunteers completely annihilated the formation of the US army in the entire War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

Luo Yuan, former Vice Minister of the World Military Research Department of the Academy of Military Sciences:

This is the first time in the history of our military that a formed regiment of the US military has been annihilated, and the head of the regiment has been killed. Since then, there has been no such polar bear regiment in the US military's sequence.

The U.S. forces in Xinxingli were wiped out, and the U.S. 10th Army on the Eastern Front was shaken.

Commander Almond of the U.S. 10th Army ordered all troops to retreat to Hamhung and Hungnam areas.

In order to prevent the entire army from being annihilated, Smith, the commander of the 1st Division of the U.S. Marine War, continued to call on the aviation for air support, and even the aircraft carrier-based aircraft parked on the nearby sea were dispatched to cover the retreat of the U.S. Marine 1st Division.

Qi Dexue, former deputy director of the Military History Research Department of the Academy of Military Sciences:

The 1st Division of the US Marines had never lost a battle. On the east front of the Korean battlefield, some people said that it was the first time to use the word retreat, which had a great psychological impact on them.

Water Gate Bridge, located 6 kilometers south of Gutuli, underneath the bridge are cliffs and an abyss. This is the only way for the 1st Division of the American Marines to withdraw south.

On this day, the temperature in Changjin Lake plummeted to minus 38 degrees Celsius, and the 172nd regiment of the 58th Division of the 20th Corps of the Volunteers was tasked with blocking the US army on the high ground by the water gate bridge.

When the leading forces of the 1st Division of the US Marines reconnaissance, they were stunned by the scene before them.

Many soldiers of the Volunteer Army spread out in battle formation and lie down in the snow. Everyone is holding a weapon and staring at the front. No one is backward and frozen on the snow.

Luo Yuan, former Vice Minister of the World Military Research Department of the Academy of Military Sciences:

When our follow-up troops went up to clean the battlefield, they found a card in the jacket pocket of a martyr named Song Amao, which read: I love my family and the motherland, and love my honor even more. I am a glorious person. Volunteer soldier of China, ice and snow, I will never yield to you, even if it is frozen to death, I will stand proudly on my ground.

The entire company of more than 100 volunteers stayed with the position forever in the extremely harsh natural environment.

The 1st Division of the American Marines broke through and withdrew all the way to the south and lost more than half of their helmets and armor.

The US 10th Army stumbled all the way and evacuated from the sea by boat.

In the second battle of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, from November 6 to December 24, for 49 consecutive days, the Volunteer Army wiped out more than 36,000 enemy troops at the cost of reducing 30,700 troops. Among them, more than 24,000 US troops were defeated. The "United Nations Army" ended the "general offensive" of the Korean War before Christmas.

The mortal battle of the 9th Corps of the Volunteers in the severe cold of the Eastern Front brought the "United Nations Army" from the Yalu River back to the 38th Front, which completely reversed the Korean War.

The loyal bones are buried everywhere in the green hills, why not return the horse leather body.

On the land of a foreign country, in the Martyrs Cemetery not far from the Changjin Lake battlefield site, 9867 Chinese People's Volunteers were buried.

In order to resist US aggression and aid Korea and defend their country, they fixed their young lives forever in the winter of 1950.

Heroes are immortal, and the people will always remember!
