Since the terrorist attack on the French satirical magazine Charilie Hebdo in January 2015, the country has been hit by several attacks.

In the autumn of 2015, several parallel acts were carried out in Paris - a nightclub, several bars and restaurants and a football arena were targets.

- France is the country that has been hardest hit by terrorism in recent years, says Filip Ahlin at the Swedish National Defense College.

That the attack last week where a teacher was murdered took place in France is therefore no surprise, according to Filip Ahlin.

Why is it happening right now?

- We will have to deal with the threat from this extreme environment in different ways.

Salafist-jihadist terrorist groups can come and go, but the idea itself continues to exist.

Filip Ahlin further says that terrorist acts carried out by "lone wolves" with very simple weapons, like the one in France last week, are difficult for security services to avert.
